So, we
kind of had some malaise over the last little while at Droxy, and kind of ignored the BIGGEST event in satellite radio
history. Now that the king of all media is broadcasting from space, what are your week one impressions?
Personally, yeah, it's Howard freaking Stern. I'm not that impressed. Why? I didn't like him before,
so my opinion doesn't really matter. What did you think? Is Stern the best thing to speed adoption of
satellite radio? Obviously droves of people plunked down their hard earned cash to cop a Sirius subscription, but do
you think if Stern left, they'd stay?Stern: First week impressions?

(Page 1)2. It is community, pure and simple, and so it is wonderful to behold. It is less contrived than anything this side of NPR, and is better than the pablum broadcast many other places. Regardless of your feelings about Stern, you need to appreciate the event that is the turnover of 2 satellite channels to a community of real people using real language. This is broadcast in a world that is increasingly narrowcast.
Rave on, Howard Stern. Rave on, Bubba. Rave on, real people everywhere with access to a microphone and a computer. We need more programming chances like this from our media.
By the way, had I not been listening to the channels over the past few weeks, I might've drawn the conclusion you did, that it didn't matter because I don't care about Howard Stern. And I would've been wrong. There is something important happening on Sirius channels 100 and 101, and whether or not it saves Sirius it will impact what we call radio.

1. I got Sirius solely because of Stern. I know several people who did the same thing.
