It turns out a bit of a revalation was made on iRadio Waves (an great blog focusing on, of all things, Motorola's iRadio service) in that Motorola's iRadio was not first announced back in January 2005. I know, I know - shocking! But it turns out that Motorola had first tried to kick off the iRadio brand over 5 years ago when they unveiled it at CES 2000. The original iRadio was meant to be a telematics system that would deliver music, voicemail, weather, stocks, driving direction, yadda yadda yadda to your car via a whole bunch of delivery methods (internet, satellite, cellular, and even FM). The idea was to bring wireless connectivity to cars in an automagical fashion. You can only wonder why they changed their mind.
Good call Moto, the new iRadio will be much better.
