Intel Capital has obviously been sold on the smoke and mirrors that iBiquity has been dishing out, as they've just thrown a bunch of investment money at the HD Radio developer. While financial terms were not disclosed, you can bet that this is a much needed injection of cash in an industry that is not looking too good versus satellite. The goal apparently is to use the additional capital to fund the development of portable HD Radio devices. Possibly with integration into portable digital media devices and mobile phones coming down the horizon. Not a bad goal, considering that marketshare isn't the only thing they need to worry about -- they also have serious competition in pocketshare.
