I'm not really sure why this needs to have a new name, or what it even needs to be trademarked, but apparently Josh Iasiuolo of Computer Outlook decided to merge the concept of Podcasting with Infomercials. Podcasting + Infomercials = Pod Mercials(TM)! Fabu-credible!Claiming to be the "next generation in informercials" this little PR concept is pretty much the same thing as podcasting, only it's not under the guise of providing honest information alone. Diskeeper pioneered the concept, with their first Pod Mercial getting 16,500 downloads. The nice thing about it is users can choose to download it or not, so the annoyance factor isn't there - but does it really need a new name?
