Sirius has announced the upcoming Sirius S50, due out in October of this year with a $360 MSRP price tag. This 'wearable' satellite radio unit allows for listening and recording of Sirius content while in it's docking station, as well as adding a mixture of your MP3/WMA content (such as podcasts). While not like the MyFi with live on-the-go satellite radio listening, this unit is lightweight and very sleek looking. Sirius went for the form factor here rather than risk the Predator-style mess of wires that you get with the XM2go units. The technology is simply not there yet, and so they went with the next best thing.Did I mention it has a color display? Yeah, that's hot.The total capacity is 1-Gig, which translates out to about 50 hours of content, stored onto its solid state (flash) drive. The battery life is at 6-hours, so you can get a pretty decent run out of it. Eventually, though not initially at launch, you'll be able to get album art as well as other neat stuff (in studio photos?) displayed right on the unit.
I got to play with the S50 hands on, and I have to say it's an incredible unit. But rather than ramble on about it, check out the pics after the jump...

Sorry ladies, I'm married.

Docking cradle. Note the Media Dial - a nod to the iPod Wheel but with a "tilt" action instead. When plugged into the cradle you can get Sirius, and record it onto the device for later listening.

The Executive Radio. Very slick looking, though this was a prototype so I couldn't play with it.

Car Dock. Definitely much better looking than previous Sirius units IMO.

Plug-in via USB to your computer, and just drag-and-drop your MP3s onto the S50. You're good to go!

21. Sounds like a nice attempt, but I think I'll wait for Sirius to get their act together before I plunk down $450+ for a glorified iPod rip-off.
I want a portable radio that I can listen to Stern live on-air, not the next day or whenever I can get home and download the (probably DRMed to death) show.
As for the MP3 functionality, I have an iPod that works beautifully and holds 40GB worth of whatever I want to put on it. I don't need another MP3 player that tries to be all things to all people. That's why most of the other MP3 players out there suck.
And what's the bit rate/sound quality of 50 hrs of content squeezed down to 1GB sound like? I'd be curious.
It took Sirius a year (after XM released their walkable model) to throw this out on the market?? They're so far behind XM in terms of hardware it's laughable. I'll probably just get their absolute cheapest model initially just to listen to Stern come January and figure out a way to record the show at home and tranfer it to my iPod.
