An XM radio will be standard issue at no extra charge in certain higher-end cars rented by National and Alamo in a host of models that they rent:
National and Alamo customers can receive XM Radio for no additional charge on all 2005 model Chevrolet Cobalts, Pontiac G6s, and Buick LaCrosses in the two brands’ fleets. The two rental brands also are offering XM for no extra charge on select 2005 Chevrolet Monte Carlos, Chevrolet Impalas and Pontiac Bonnevilles.
Clearly, this is meant as a way to educate the right income level of user about XM’s benefits, especially when they’re in a strange city and trying to find something to listen to.

1. Glenn,
Good luck on your newest endeaver. Right off the bat I have a comment so, so far so good.
I travel 70% of the time. Renting cars from Avis on an almost weekly basis I'm constantly looking for decent radio station in whatever area of the country I'm in. I've been looking into getting a portable XM or Sirius radio but thus far the recent announcemts haven't put me over to the "buy now" category.
Currently Avis only offer this service in the premium cars - way to expensive imo. So I'm glad to hear that they might have some competition in offering this service throughout the fleet.
Thanks again for your commitment to your passions and good luck!
